It is a wa.me link, so the phone opens WhatsApp straight into a chat with your number, with your opening message already typed. The customer only has to hit send — they do not need your number saved first. It needs an internet connection and WhatsApp installed, which covers almost everyone in India, Brazil and much of Europe and Africa.
How to make a WhatsApp QR Code

Does the customer need my number saved?
No — that is the point. The QR opens the chat directly, even for a first-time contact.
Personal or Business WhatsApp?
Both work. WhatsApp Business gives you a catalogue, quick replies and labels, which helps if you take a lot of orders.
Can I change the message later?
Not on a static code. Generate a new one if your campaign message changes.
What country code format?
Digits only, country code first, no leading zero. India 91…, US/Canada 1…, UK 44….
What is a wa.me link?
It is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat format: wa.me/<number>. This tool builds one for you and turns it into a QR code, so scanning opens the chat directly.
Can I track how many people scanned it?
Not with a static code. If you point the QR at a URL QR code with UTM tags instead of wa.me, your website analytics can count the clicks before they hand off to WhatsApp.
Does it work with WhatsApp Web or Desktop?
Scanning is a phone action, but once the chat opens it syncs to WhatsApp Web and Desktop like any other conversation.
Will it work if the customer is in another country?
Yes, as long as you entered the full international number with country code. WhatsApp does not care where either person is.
